Stokvel members urged to be vigilant

“The stokvels are encouraged to use electronic transfers to members."

Tsakani – Stokvel members are urged by the Tsakani police to be extra cautious, especially when they are going to share their annual savings.
During the festive season, members withdraw their investments and tend to share their year-long savings.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said they are urging the public not to keep cash in the house.

“The stokvels are encouraged to use electronic transfers to members.
“In the event where the electronic transfer is not possible or sharing of groceries, we encourage the stokvels to make the Tsakani SAPS aware in order to come up with some crime prevention strategies,” she said.
Communities are warned to be vigilant when doing their transactions at the ATM, and to never trust strangers and to be aware of online scams.
