Members of the community educated on IDP
Intergrated Development Plan education to the people.
Kwa-Thema – There was a Civic Education on Integrated Development Planning (IDP) and Budget Processes workshop at the Kwa-Thema Hall on Friday.
Ward committee members and councillors, community members, NGOs, Faith-based Organisations (FBOs), organised community structures and business owners were invited to take part.
The workshop aimed to educate attendees on the IDP, how to budget and how the municipal budget works.
Ekurhuleni Region E (Kwatsaduza and Nigel) regional manager Musa Mamabolo said, “Today’s programme is to educate people on what the IDP is.”

Mamabolo said the ward committee members meet with the ward councillors to discuss the issues of the community and what is needed by the community to submit to them to the metro. The metro then prioritises what is on the list.
“The metro will then go through all lists to check what is needed by the members in the metro and prioritise during the budget.
“Issues grow, but the budget doesn’t, and the budget can be tabled after a few years, so ward committee members should focus more on development issues,” Mamabolo concluded.
