Riverside cleaned to prevent crime

Veld which turned into an illegal dumping site was cleaned

Kwa-Thema – The residents of Riverside in Ward 74, ward committee members and the councillor on Wednesday morning cleaned up a portion of land, which turned into an illegal dumping site.

This came after the residents complained during a public meeting on March 29, where the ward councillor introduced the new station commander of Kwa-Thema Police Station, Colonel Nhlanhla Welcome Kunene.

Residents complained that the place is now a crime hotspot and the water no longer flows in a water ditch as it should.

Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane said they couldn’t allow residents to feel they are in danger, so they had the cleaning campaign.

“There are also community members and the police who patrol the area daily, so we cleaned so that everything can be visible in the area and someone coming from the opposite direction,” concluded Simelane.
