10 drunk drivers arrested in Tsakani
Suspects to appear before the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court for driving under the influence.
Tsakani – Ten drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Tsakane Road in front of the fire station on Saturday.
This was during the integrated Easter weekend operation by members of the EMPD Tsakane Precinct and other law enforcement agencies.
The officers rolled out stop-and-searches, driver vehicle fitness, including driving while under the influence of alcohol, and awareness, ensuring that lives are safe and road safety is front of mind.
EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa said law enforcement stopped 108 motor vehicles and searched 75 passengers.
“We issued 37 written notices to motorists,” she said.
All the suspects were taken to the Tsakani Police Station and will soon appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court.
