Tsakani man to appear in court for possession of unlicensed firearm

The firearm was found in a bucket of water.

Tsakani – A 22-year-old was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Thursday.

Members of the Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence Aggravated Robbery Team and the Tsakani Tracing Team followed up on information regarding the suspect who was in possession of unlicensed firearms in Langaville Ext 4.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the Ekurhuleni district communication officer, said when the suspect was interrogated about the firearm, he denied the allegations and granted members permission to search his residence.

“During the search, the firearm was found hidden inside a bucket of dirty water in the corner of the house.

“The suspect was arrested on the spot and taken to the Tsakani SAPS for detention. He will soon appear before the Tsakani Magistrates Court,” she added.
