Kwa-Thema percussionist George Samuel lives for his music

Samuel has played the drums for a decade.

Kwa-Thema – Percussionist George Samuel is shooting for the stars and aiming to become a renowned musician in the country.

The 28-year-old started playing music at his high school’s assembly and in church and sometimes took his drum to school events to entertain his schoolmates.

Samuel said the percussionist, Jimmy Drumz, inspired him.

“I knew this was where I wanted my future to be. I enrolled at the Sibikwa Art Centre to study theatre production for a year and improve my skills.

“I studied drama, African songs and dance, marimba, contemporary dance, and drumming,” he said.

During his 12-year career, Samuel had the opportunity to play for legendary kwaito star Joe Nina.

In 2020, Nina featured Samuel on one of his motivational songs for the matriculants of 2020.

He played percussion for various house music musicians and performed for the South African and USA embassies.

He is currently working with The-Vinko LifeVstyle.
