Pholosong Hospital celebrates nurses

Nurses celebrated Nurses Day with the theme 'Our Nurses, Our Future'.

Tsakani – Pholosong Regional Hospital nurses joined the celebration of International Nurses Day on Friday.

The Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla and the MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, joined the celebrations held under the theme, Our Nurses, Our Future.

It serves as a call by the International Council of Nurses to countries to address global health challenges and improve global health for all.

The International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on 12 May in memory of the birth of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.


Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla, MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko and the CEO of Pholosong Hospital, Nthabiseng Makgana joined the celebration.

They honoured nurses for their important role in saving millions of lives and raising awareness of the challenges they face.

Professional nurse Mahlodi Mabiletsa said they celebrate this day with pride as the new generation of Florence Nightingale.

“We celebrate the nurses from auxiliary, staff nurses to professional nurses. This is our chance to celebrate our day with pride,” she added.
