Disabled duo are each other’s pillar of strength
The two friends are aiming to create job opportunities for the unemployed.
Tsakani – Manqoba Mabuya and Kgotso Mabilo have been friends for almost a decade. The two met at Muriel Band School in Brakpan about seven years ago and have been inseparable ever since.
The duo were spotted cruising along Modjadji Street on their way to Tsakane Mall to celebrate Kgotso’s 28th birthday.
Kgotso was operating his electrical wheelchair while Manqoba was holding onto him as he sat in his manual wheelchair.
Manqoba told African Reporter that ever since they met, they have been spending most of their time together because they understand and support each other.
“We don’t live that far from each other so most of the time we are always together. Wherever we go, Kgotso is always wheeling me.
“Traveling like this makes things easier for us and we can go anywhere without having to worry about how we will fit our wheelchairs in a taxi,” said Manqoba.
The friends said they recently registered a construction company that will hire young and unemployed people.
They added that their disabilities do not restrict them from doing things like everyone else. Kgotso expressed his gratitude to Manqoba who has always been there for him.
“I am grateful that I have him as my friend and for the support we have sowed each other all these years. We understand the challenges we face almost daily.

“It soothes your heart knowing that you have someone who can relate to you and is so dependable.
“Even though we are both physically challenged, we have learned to make the best out of the times we spend together.
“We still have a long way to go and we will keep on supporting each other,” said Kgotso.
The pair said they are proud of their achievements and they can’t wait for their business to start operating.
