Umsizi noPende exhibition set to open on Saturday

The public is invited to experience an exhibition that features a diverse genre of artists.

The City of Ekurhuleni invites the public to the art exhibition and prize-giving ceremony of the third Umsizi noPende visual art project, at 13:00 at the Springs Art Gallery, on April 13.

The exhibition will run until April 31. The theme of the project is Looking into The Past, Present and Future.

The public is invited to witness strategic innovation and the artists’ creativity and talent. This exhibition is the result of the collaboration between Isthuli-Sasengweni Arts and Craft Organisation and the CoE’s Visual Art and Galleries Section in the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture as well as expressive support from Gert Sibande Municipality in Mpumalanga.

The exhibition will showcase 20 shortlisted artworks portraying a variety of techniques and mediums, such as printmaking, photography, painting, drawing, and mixed media collage that will be available for purchase.

Four recipients will be presented with prizes. Entries were submitted from artists over the age of 21 from Gauteng and Mpumalanga:

• Gold prize (R20 000)
• Silver prize (R12 000)
• Bonze prize (R8 000)
• The Public Voters’ Choice Prize (R10 000)
