Igantius Maphike, EMPD media liaison officer, confirmed that a case docket has been opened at the Tsakane Police Station for further investigation.
“The elderly lady’s injuries were fatal as she was hit by a Toyota Quantum and was declared dead on scene.
“Her family was summoned to the scene and her body was transported to Springs Mortuary.
“She was walking alone, crossing the street and it was dark,” he added.
No arrests have been made.
“The driver of the Toyota Quantum was not injured but was treated for shock.v
“We can confirm there was no other fatalities reported,” said Maphike.
