Shining Light Daycare hosts joyful Family Fun Sports Day to strengthen bonds

Parents, children, and staff from Shining Light Daycare shared laughter, games, and memorable moments during the preschool’s sixth Family Fun Sports Day on September 13.

Tsakani – Shining Light Daycare and Preschool celebrated its sixth annual Family Fun Sports Day on September 13 at the Faranani Multipurpose Centre.

The fun day invites parents, guardians, and learners from Shining Light to enjoy outdoor activities and friendly competitions.
Children delight in seeing their parents join in races and other games.

Principal and founder Mbali Mabuza said the event was created to help parents reconnect with their children in a relaxed, playful setting.

“The aim of the day was to keep children and their families active and entertained with music, dancing, games, food, and lively conversations.

“Parents today are so busy and always working, always rushing. They hardly get time to spend as a family due to various reason. We therefore saw the need to annually host such events.

“Most of the time, the only thing we give our kids is a phone or we buy them things. We started this fun sports day in 2019 to bring families together and remind them how important it is to spend time with their children.

“Kids love watching their moms and dads run, dance, and compete,” explained Mabuza.

She mentioned that the day creates happy memories for the children and shows them that their parents can play and laugh with them.

The principal believes the event is an investment in the well-being of both children and parents, helping to strengthen family bonds beyond the classroom.
