Michael Zulu Primary inspires young minds on World Literacy Day

Michael Zulu Primary School marked World Literacy Day with fun, educational activities to inspire a love for reading and writing among learners.

Tsakani – Michael Zulu Primary School recently joined the global community in celebrating World Literacy Day, dedicating the occasion to promoting the importance of reading and writing among learners.

The school hosted a range of fun educational activities aimed at fostering a love of literacy.

“Learners took part in reading and storytelling activities, making the day both engaging and insightful. Children used their imagination and creativity to create or retell stories,” said school librarian and educator Fikile Mabuza.

“The day also featured a spelling bee to highlight the importance of spelling skills. We want to promote reading as a powerful tool. Learners should see books as a gateway to imagination and a world full of opportunities.

“We want our learners to understand that literacy goes beyond reading; it is empowerment and lifelong learning,” she added.

The school’s commitment to literacy reflects a broader goal of nurturing confident, literate, and curious young minds.
