Tsakani CPF calls for community unity to fight crime
Chairperson Mncedisi Somyo appeals to residents to stay alert, report suspicious activities, and look out for youth as crime spikes in warmer months.
Tsakani – CPF chairperson Mncedisi Somyo requests residents to remain alert and work together to curb the growing wave of crime in Tsakani.
The CPF has raised concerns over the recent increase in incidents such as house burglaries, theft, and street robberies across various sections of Tsakani.
“We are seeing a spike in opportunistic crimes as the weather gets warmer, as criminals take advantage of relaxed community routines,” said Somyo.
He urged community members to continue practicing neighbourhood watch, as it has helped to prevent criminal activities.

He warned that while the police have stepped up their visibility to prevent theft and burglaries, they cannot be everywhere at once.
“We need residents to be our eyes and ears on the ground. Report suspicious activities, avoid walking alone at night, and properly secure your homes.
“I appeal to parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children, particularly teenagers, during school holidays,” he said.
“There is an increase in youth offences and substance abuse. This has been occurring throughout the year.
“Parents must know where their children are and guide them away from negative influences,” added Somyo.
He mentioned that the CPF works hand-in-hand with the Tsakane SAPS and is on a mission to educate the public on safety, crime prevention, and how to report criminal activities.
He also highlighted that the CPF plans to do this through awareness campaigns in hotspot areas.
“Crime prevention starts with each one of us being vigilant, responsible, and united,” he said.
The Tsakani CPF continues to urge anyone witnessing or experiencing crime to contact their nearest police station or to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
