Tsakani workshop to equip liquor traders with skills to identify illicit alcohol and strengthen compliance

Liquor traders invited to educational session aimed at tackling illegal alcohol trade and its impact on communities and the economy.

Tsakani – The Gauteng Liquor Board (GLB), in collaboration with SAPS and the South African Liquor Traders Association (SALTA), invites all liquor traders to an important educational workshop focused on combating illicit alcohol.

The workshop will be held at the Tsakane SAPS Hall on May 14 from 09:00.

Secretary of Kwatsaduza SALTA, Montoa Maile, said this engagement aims to educate liquor traders on the identification of illicit alcohol.

“Individuals will be educated on the dangers associated with illicit alcohol, its circulation, and the broader impact it has on both communities and the economy.

“Illicit alcohol remains a serious concern in many communities, posing significant health risks to consumers while also undermining legitimate businesses and contributing to economic losses,” she explained.

Through this workshop, stakeholders aim to empower traders with the knowledge needed to recognise illegal products and ensure compliance with trading regulations.

The initiative also forms part of ongoing efforts by the GLB, SAPS, and SALTA to strengthen co-operation with local traders and promote a safe, regulated liquor industry.
