What was more concerning than the actual challenge, though, was that I was struggling to make a decision on how to get myself out of the mess I was in.
So I dug deep, trying to truly find myself, what makes me happy and what it is I really love.
Then it dawned on me that I had landed in this position because of three simple reasons.
One, I seldom make the time in my busy schedule to be alone, to think and listen to my inner voice.
Further, I seem to have a tendency of not trusting my instincts, which always comes back to bite me in the butt.
Thirdly, I got to know that like many other people I have spoken to, I tend to fear taking risks and fear the unknown.
In turn this resulted in my dreams and purpose being compromised and me not living to my fullest potential.
So I started asking around as I always do when coming to such realisations, on whether people trust their instincts.
I even took it a step further to ask the same people who, having realised what their instincts were at a certain point in their lives, what happened when they avoided their instincts and how they felt afterwards.
And most of these people, had a similar answer for me, which was that when they followed their instincts that was what they were meant to do. However, when they didn’t follow their instincts, they normally found that a day, week, month or even years later they regretted not having done so.
This led me to read up on a couple of motivational pieces.
There was consensus among different voices from around the world.
It is important to listen to that inner voice and trust your instincts as that could be where all your answers lie.
So this is my challenge to others who may be in the same predicament as me.
If you are at a point in you life where you are unsure of where you want to be, make time to really examine your life.
Be truthful with yourself and take the time to listen.
Be aware of your surrounding, where you have been, where you are and where you want to go.
And from there listen to and trust that little inner voice that is speaking to you.
