Body discovered near stadium

Police says the unidentified man was shot at close range.

EDEN PARK – A body of a young man in his thirties was discovered on Monday, November 24 behind the Eden Park Stadium.

According to the police report, the body was found with a bullet wound in the chest.

“The unknown victim was probably shot at close range, because the empty cartridge was found near the body. It was evident that he was shot on Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday morning,” said Captain Mhlophe.

The police summoned many residents of Phola Park to see if anyone could identify the body, but nobody could.

“It is clear that the victim was not from the area. We have taken his fingerprints to obtain an identity. We have opened a homicide case and investigations are done by our detectives,” Mhlophe concluded.
