Earth angels reach out to Eden Park community

AngelRands brings much-needed relief to the needy in Eden Park.

Immanuel Ministries Prayer Centre in Eden Park has had a soup kitchen since 2015 to provide food for the needy in the church and community every week.

Because We Care is an organisation in the church that looks after the needy by providing the food parcels, clothes and other essentials.

They usually also hand out food parcels once a month to households that have no income. However, because of lockdown, they have not been allowed to prepare cooked meals, so they drop off food parcels to the homes of at least 30 families in need.

And like many other organisations during these trying times, their funds and food donations have run dry.

Past Thomas Reed said: “If we have more to give, we will increase the number of recipients as the need has never been bigger.”

This is where Kagiso Media, owners of Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio, stepped in to help. They have put together the KM Hunger Relief Fund to assist communities in need during lockdown.

The most basic need remains food. Over a couple of weeks, Jacaranda FM gave their platform to four organisations per day who actively work within afflicted communities to feed thousands of families.

These chosen charities then received AngelRands which they could use to buy products most needed for the work they do in the community.
