
On October 3 at 6.45am officers arrested a 26-year-old driver for driving 174km/h on the N12 eastbound by the R59 highway in the Alberton area.
On October 4 at 6.50am another 26-year-old man was also arrested after he drove 179km/h on the N12 eastbound near the Germiston off-ramp, in the Bedfordview area.
“The driver alleged that he was late for work before he was handcuffed,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson.
Five more drivers between the ages of 31 and 40 suffered the same fate on this 120km/h zone, when caught travelling at 164km/h, 166km/h, 167km/h, 169km/h and 172km/h respectively.
“He was arrested and taken to Alberton Police Station.”
All seven suspects will appear in the Germiston and Palm Ridge magistrate’s courts soon.
