WATCH: Ruan urgently need funds for his dialysis treatment

With your help, we can give Ruan a chance.

The family of Ruan du Preez (20) is again pleading for assistance from the community to help pay for his medical bills and dialysis sessions.

Most of our readers by now know Ruan from reports in the RECORD during 2020.

He has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia with total renal failure. He needs a kidney transplant. According to his mother, Hettie, the waiting time for a kidney transplant is very long and the dialysis three times a week is what is keeping him alive.

Ruan’s funds for dialysis will be depleted by the end of January.

How you can help

“My dialysis cost R1 250 per session and it adds up to R15 000 per month. I do not have medical aid, and my parents have exhausted their funds to keep me alive. I am really in need of financial assistance to be able to undergo my dialysis sessions,” said Ruan.

People can now support Ruan’s #99randmatters cause.

“If we can get only 150 donors to each donate R99 per month he can afford the dialysis costs.”

Simply set up a recurring payment of R99 which is paid into Ruan’s medical account, Ruan du Preez, Capitec, account number 1539738920, on your banking profiles or SMS the word ‘Ruan’ to 33563 to get more information on how to donate R99 per month.

People are also welcome to contact Ruan on 065 812 2981 or visit his Facebook page, The Ruan Foundation, for daily updates about him.

Congratulations

The family also ran a competition in 2020 where people could donate R200 and more to stand a chance to win a seven-day vacation at Sabonani Lodge in Hazyview.

All the names of those who donated were placed into a bag and after the drawing it was Charlene Caetono from Germiston who won the seven-day vacation.

“Thank you to our sponsors and to everyone who entered the competition. We are forever grateful,” said Ruan.
