Brackenhurst Primary spreads love with food donation

Brackenhurst Primary School arranged a food drive on April 6 and 7, to have non-perishable food donated to Kasie Outreach.

Following the Easter weekend, Brackenhurst Primary School arranged a food drive on April 6 and 7 to support Kasie Outreach.

In exchange for an item of non-perishable food, learners at the school were allowed to wear civvies on both days.

The donations were handed over to Kasie Outreach, a faith-based project which was established in 2018 with the sole purpose of making a difference through monthly outreach programmes to the underprivileged residing in the City of Ekurhuleni’s informal settlements.

Organiser Melody Pheiffer, a teacher at the school, said that parents’ response was remarkably generous and that many families will be helped with these donations.

“We just asked our learners if anyone could bring just one item, those who were able could bring in more. We’ll soon have our second food drive in winter and also later in the year. Our school and its parents are very supportive in supporting such initiatives,” she said.

Pheiffer told the RECORD that they have previously lent a helping hand to the community through numerous other outreach programmes.
