Raising funds for feral cats sterilisation

Aspen Feral Cats did a cake sale at Thaba Trails to raise funds for the sterilisation of the feral cats in the area.

On April 10 Aspen Feral Cats hosted a cake sale at Thaba Trails to raise funds for the sterilisation of the feral cats in the area.

Charlmaine Pereira from Aspen Feral Cats said their colony has grown because feral cats and tamed cats give birth to their new babies.

“A female feral cat can start having babies at only four months old. They can have up to three to eight babies. Tamed cats mostly cannot because they are mostly sterilised,” she said.

Their purpose is to raise funds for the sterilisation of cats they find that are not sterilised.

“It is between R400 to R800 depending on where you get them sterilised. If there is no money then it has to come out of our pockets.”

“We just want to raise the funds to help the cats with sterilisation and we advise people to also sterilise their cats,” said Charlmaine.
