Tutela grateful for support from community members

Tutela Alberton hosted their AGM on August 18.

Tutela Alberton held its annual general meeting (AGM) on August 18 at the NG Church Alberton South.

Bernita Soares, an educational psychologist from the Family Therapy Center in Glenvista and a member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (RGBSA) was the guest speaker for the event. She spoke about the effects the Covid-19 pandemic had on children.

During the AGM, Tutela Alberton’s annual report was shared with guests so that they get a clear picture of what Tutela Alberton do for the community and how the community and churches assisted them.

Tutela Alberton is a non-profit organization helping the community through family care services, community assistance, poverty alleviation, protection of children and vulnerable people and feeding schemes.

How Tutela helped the community from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022

• 92 clothing parcels were distributed to those in need and 115 food parcels from the Lions Club were handed out.

• Together with the NG Southcrest Church, donated stationery packs for needy children.

• Tutela Alberton, the NG Southcrest Church and the Alberton Lions Club handed out 36 cups of soup after the floods in November. Food was cooked at the office and distributed to clients.

• Fruit received as a donation was handed out to the less fortunate.

• Tutela Alberton assisted Bethel House of God with donations of clothes and vegetables to help those families in need in their Eikenhof area.

• Grace Trinity School for girls volunteered at Tutela Alberton’s office to rearrange and sort out the jumble sale storerooms as part of their community service project.

• Teddy bears were donated to Palm Ridge Court. The court clerk, Lucinda Mackenzie, received the donation and every child who goes to court will receive a teddy bear to comfort them.

“We thank the Lord, our Father, for guiding and supporting the office through the past year and pray for His blessing and guidance in the future,” said members of Tutela Alberton.

“A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, for their hard work and dedication.”

“All the donors and community members who have supported Tutela Greater Alberton throughout this year and the Alberton Lions Club, for your support, loyalty and for generously donating the food parcels throughout the year,” they concluded.
