Alberton’s band cooked new hit named ‘Animal

After performing the song live several times, the Kidnapped by Gypsies band officially releases the new hit.

Alberton’s rock group, Kidnapped by Gypsies, has recently released their new single titled Animal to keep the group’s purpose going while keeping fans entertained.

South African rock group comprises Craig Pietropaolo on lead vocals and bass guitar, Edwin Odendaal on guitar and backing vocals and Travis Burrows on drums.

The group was founded in 2016 by Odendaal and Burrows. Throughout the years, they underwent several line-up changes before settling on the power three currently tearing up South African stages.

According to Edwin, the reason behind the line-up changes was mostly because the band wanted to stay on course.

“When you stay in your lane and learn to feel good about yourself, you no longer have to push so hard to learn new things. However, you work on what you already have and you simply work harder to make it even better.

“We have always had a clear goal in mind regarding what the band should be and how far it should go. We came to understand that this goal could only be achieved by narrowing down the band’s structure to a like-minded collective of hard work.

“The ability to work hard makes us more self-assured, making it one of life’s most significant things. You will be able to achieve all of your ambitions and realise all of your aspirations if you put in the necessary effort. Working tirelessly and resolutely allows us to overcome our limitations and move one step forward in life,” said Edwin.

The group self-produced and released its first single, Forest Moon, on June 12, 2020. It has since received over 250 plays on South African radio stations, including PUK 93.6 FM, Radio Today 1485 AM, Zone Radio 88.5 FM, Mix 93.8 FM, Kovsie 97.0 FM, and LM Radio 702 AM.

Kidnapped by Gypsies is a member of the Recording Industry of South Africa. All members are also members of the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association, and also the Southern African Music Rights Organisation and South African Music Performance Rights Association.

Craig told the Alberton Record that the recently released song went through various versions and this was the appropriate time to release it as the fans were thirstily waiting for it.

“We learn important life lessons when we give ourselves over to hard work. We were able to think strategically, thanks to this experience, to successfully handle a challenging issue. We learnt that there are no shortcuts to success,” Craig explained.

The band has performed in reputable venues across the country, including Bailey’s Live, Jarr Bar, Railways Café, Rumours Lounge/Rock City, Rusty Hook, Smoking Dragon Festivals, Sundowners and The Texas Bar. They have all graciously hosted the band’s professional, exciting and enthralling live rock performance, which draws inspiration from artists like Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

“Throughout this journey, we have learnt a lot of things but most importantly we learned to trust the process. Our plans already include releasing a new song which we aim to be better and bigger than this because we aim to progress,” Travis concluded.
