Nthabiseng Ngoepe launches her book titled Maintaining Your Joy

Maintaining Your Joy : A Journal for Daily Positive Living is a compilation of tools that enable one to adopt a proactive approach to life and its challenges.

Nthabiseng Ngoepe, pastor, attorney, speaker, author, and voice-over artist, released her second book, a journal titled Maintaining Your Joy, on November 19 at Mall of the South.

The 44-year-old said the journal is a compilation of tools that enable one to adopt a proactive approach to life and its challenges.

“For every month we have formulated focal points that deal with the mind, self-love, self-care and relating to others that are aimed at aiding anyone to build a positive outlook despite what life throws at them. It is also spiritual as I draw my inner voice from my fellowship with God, His word and my constant dependency on the Holy Spirit.

“What sets it apart is also the realistic approach to everyday life challenges, to say that it is not every time that one needs a Bible verse. Often we pray for God to do what is our responsibility. So we have infused scripture with punchlines that helps one draw the line between wishful thinking and action. It is a pleasant piece of work even if I must say so myself,” said Nthabiseng.

According to Nthabiseng, joy is inward contentment, a knowledge that goes beyond the superficial/exterior to that one is well and at peace despite what is happening around them.

It is the underlying understanding that one has no control over what happens or does not happen, and as a result, whatever happens, or does not happen, one will be fine. Happiness is many times more dependent on one’s surroundings. It is brought about by external circumstances, accomplishments, and even material possessions,” said Ngoepe.

Ngoepe went on to say life comes with so much. While one may not be able to choose and pick experiences one goes through, we must be equipped to handle them.

“An inability to handle disappointments, relationships, even oneself results in the ability to nurture ourselves or harbour long-lasting relationships. When we are joyous, we perceive others and life differently. We become more kind to others and ourselves and we give the best interpretation even to those things that can bring us down.

Having experienced every season of life having joy has become personal. We face life as broken people and guess what? We perpetuate it in every sphere of our operation – in our workspaces in our homes, as spouses and as mothers. It’s time we became intentional about the narrative that we are propelling about and around us,” said Ngoepe.

Who is Nthabiseng?

Pastor, attorney, speaker, author and voice-over artist, Nthabiseng Ngoepe.

“I am a caring, hardworking, and determined individual, as well as a born-again Christian. I am an assertive, bold and independent woman, a trendsetter and a successful mother and wife. I keep my promises to myself and others. I am a change agent, which is evident in my professional life as an attorney and entrepreneur.

“I am the eldest child of my parent’s marriage, a true village girl who is still rooted in the old ways of doing things. Respect for elders, honour for God and peaceful relationships with family are thus at the heart of my values.

“My motivation is driven by a desire for change. I’ve lived a restless life long enough to know what it costs. I’ve fought battles that weren’t mine and I’ve sought validation in places and people who didn’t serve me. All of this has instilled in me a desire to affect change in the lives of others.”

Nthabiseng emphasised that if one person improves, achieves more and knows who they are so that they never seek validation from external voices, or if one person receives an education or one person does not commit suicide, if a door of opportunity opens or if someone would not otherwise access that door – her job is done.

Nthabiseng is available on social media platforms as well as on her website, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
