Elandspark residents fix potholes

Residents of Elandspark took action to repair the worsening potholes in their neighbourhood on January 14.
This came after many near-accidents when motorists tried to avoid the potholes that had not been repaired by the relevant authorities.
Themba Mpofu, the chairperson of the Elandspark Residents Association (ERA), said the team was led by the ERA with Bernard Michael as the project co-ordinator and Glen van Niekerk, who is in charge of material and funds collection as well as material acquisition.

“Other residents who volunteered put in their time and labour to ensure that the potholes were professionally repaired and that the repairs would last. Bernard hired Richard, an experienced handyman who does a good job.
“The potholes were worse along the main road in the area, Eugene Marais Street. Other potholes are being prioritised and will be attended to, time and material availability permitting.

“We are still going to fix many of them, and we are thinking of fixing them again this week because the relevant authorities have failed us. We can not wait for them. These potholes have been there for a long time, so action must be taken.“
“The ERA would like to thank all residents who gave material, labour and financial and moral support to the pothole fixing project. Our community will benefit greatly from their assistance and dedication,” said Mpofu.
