Animals suffer at the hands of their owners

"We will continue to go out and rescue as many people as possible, but we cannot do so without your generous support," said Marx.

During a trip to Nanas Farm, the JSPCA inspectors found two dogs sitting in the sun.

According to the head of public relations, Liana Marx, when they went to check on the dogs they came across a horrible scene. The living conditions were horrible, there was no shelter or water, and the temperatures were higher than 39°C.

“One of the dogs had a bowl of sour, old green sludge. The owner stated that he had stopped eating a ‘while’ ago. He was chained up with a thin rope and living under a plastic sheet.

The dog is currently receiving treatment at JSPCA.

“Aside from the animals living in deplorable conditions, the owners did not appear to care. When our inspectors spoke to them, they laughed. “Both dogs were removed, but our skinny boy had a severe case of parvo and did not survive. The other boy is receiving treatment at our facility. Our inspectors opened a cruelty case against the owners and are investigating.

“Outreach and proactive work are critical because this is when we find cases tucked away in the back of the garden.

“We do understand that poverty is a factor, but it is different when owners laugh at you and don’t seem or want to understand why the dog needs to eat every day or needs fresh water and proper shelter.

“We will continue to rescue as many animals as possible, but we cannot do so without your generous support,” said Marx.
