Dozens of residents participated in various clean-ups, ranging from cleaning the parks to cleaning the vacant stands owned by the city and other residents who have left the area.

Abomakhi and the community members of Liefde en Vrede stood up for their community.

They claim their efforts will pay off in terms of crime reduction because the area will be more visible.

Abomakhi understands that the more brush grows alongside the road and near the intersections, the more inviting those areas are to criminal activity.

Its members helped make this a successful day by providing brush cutters, chainsaws, and a four-ton truck to transport trash to a dumping site. Other residents contributed water and other resources to the initiative.
