Glenvista Hero for our Children Project launched

The National Centre for Child Protection has launched a project to recognise and vote for individuals who are deeply concerned about the well-being of children.

The National Centre for Child Protection, in collaboration with BMW Joburg South, launched the Glenvista Hero for its Children Project on July 7.

The project goal is to recognise individuals who care about the well-being of children. They encourage community members to save the Glenvista Child Protection hotline number, 079 072 5144, and to participate in the project by nominating someone in the community who they believe does amazing work for or with children.

It can be anyone in the community, such as a school teacher, sports coach, those who run safe places, security guards, police officers, cashiers or emergency response units. To nominate someone, send an SMS or WhatsApp message to the hotline with the name and surname of the candidate who lives in the Glenvista area.

The competition will run until September 30. These heroes will receive certificates of appreciation for the work they do in the community.

During the launch, child protection also handed certificates to people making a difference in the community.

By creating awareness for a school catering for learners with cerebral palsy, the CEO of the National Centre for Child Protection Danie van Loggernberg, stepped up to pull a vehicle.

He pulled a vehicle while sitting down, to create a visual demonstration of some challenges special needs children may face in their day-to-day activities.
