Armed suspects arrested in New Redruth
Both men were taken to Alberton SAPS and a case was opened.
Two men were arrested in Clinton Road in New Redruth after they were stopped and searched by CPS Security and Alberton SAPS.
“A stop and search were conducted by us and SAPS after a group of suspicious males were spotted standing in front of a local business. As the men were approached, one suspect ran away on foot and two were arrested,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director of CPS Security.
On further investigation, it was established that the suspects were attempting to sell a phone to a member of the public.
“Their plan was to rob the potential buyer of a large amount of cash,” said van der Merwe.
A firearm and car break-in implements were found in their possession.
Both men were taken to Alberton SAPS and a case was opened.
