Man arrested for allegedly stealing a weed eater

A man was arrested in Penzance Street, New Redruth, Alberton, for allegedly stealing a weed eater.

Director of CPS Security, Tyrone van der Merwe, said that one of their reaction units was doing a normal patrol when they noticed a suspicious male wandering with a weed eater.

Tyrone said that when the individual was stopped and questioned, it became clear that he had been lying to them.

“We took the initiative to phone our local garden services that are operating in our area and find out if one of their weed eaters was stolen,” said Van der Merwe.

The information spread across local businesses and the rightful owner was found.

The stolen equipment was taken to Alberton SAPS and a case was opened.
