Brackendowns SAPS initiate murder investigation
Investigation launched as deceased woman found in Brackenhurst.
Brackendowns SAPS has launched an investigation following the discovery of a deceased 58-year-old woman on Swartkoppies Road in Brackenhurst.
The body, found on April 24, has prompted a thorough examination by authorities to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to Warrant Officer Gerhard Cornelius, the spokesperson of Brackendowns SAPS, the body was first found by individuals searching through nearby dustbins.
Prompted by their unsettling discovery, an anonymous public member alerted the SAPS.
While the woman’s identity remains undisclosed, SAPS officials have informed her family of the tragic incident.
“A murder docket has been initiated, and dedicated investigators are working to uncover the truth behind this occurrence,” said Cornelius.
“At 10:28, we arrived at the scene to find the woman’s body lying in the bushes adjacent to the road,” stated Russell Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, the emergency medical service responding to the incident.
“Upon assessment, it was determined that she had sustained facial injuries and appeared to have been deceased for some time. Unfortunately, no life-saving measures could be administered, and she was declared dead at the scene,” said Meiring.
While SAPS officials have not disclosed possible motives or suspects, they are appealing to anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist in their pursuit of justice for the victim and her grieving family.
Anyone with information may contact SAPS on 072 638 9204.
