EMPD nabs 2 for drugs

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers commend the community for being instrumental in reporting a crime.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit nabbed two suspects for possession and possible dealing in multiple illicit substances in Palm Ridge on June 7.

After a tip-off from concerned community members about individuals selling drugs in the area, officers went to a residence in Ext 3, where they made the arrest.

A 32-year-old male suspect was found with 108 ziplock bags of crystal meth valued at about R10 000.

The suspect co-operated with the officers and agreed to show them who he worked with.

“Officers swiftly proceeded to a residence on Ysterhout Street, where a 32-year-old male suspect was found in possession of 37 ziplock bags of CAT and 13 ziplock bags of crystal meth, valued at about R4 800,” explained EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

The suspects were immediately arrested and taken to the Eden Park Police Station. They face charges of possession of and possible dealing in illicit substances.

Thepa said they would appear at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

The EMPD applauded the community members who helped bring lawbreakers to book and keep the CoE free from drugs.
