Gert Hitzeroth’s murder case postponed till 2024

The couple accused in Gert Hitzeroth murder case reappeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court.

In a recent court appearance on November 27, the couple implicated in the murder of Gert Hitzeroth faced proceedings at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

During the hearing, State witness Ruan Harmse underwent cross-examination, shedding light on his account of the events that happened on the night of the incident.

Accused number one is charged with murder, with the State alleging that he caused Hitzeroth’s death by assaulting him with a baseball bat and subsequently drowning him in a pool. The accused entered a plea of not guilty.

The second accused faces two charges. The first pertains to obstructing justice, with the State asserting that she concealed the murder weapon and cleaned the victim’s blood from the scene. The accused pleaded not guilty to this charge. The second charge is assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm as an accessory.

The case has been postponed to 2024. The matter is set to continue on February 6 and 28, as well as March 4.
