Knox released on bail following fatal shooting of former heavyweight boxer
He was arrested after Mark ‘Striker’ Strydom was shot and killed in Edenvale on July 20.

David Knox appeared in Germiston Magistrate’s Court following a fatal shooting in Dowerglen.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that murder-accused Knox appeared in court, for his first appearance, on July 22.
This comes after the July 20 shooting, which led to the death of former heavyweight boxer Mark ‘Striker’ Strydom.
Knox (56) was granted bail set at R5 000.
Knox was arrested by Edenvale SAPS after the fatal shooting occurred at Grand Slam Sports Diner.
Edenvale Police Station’s communication officer Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile said the victim was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
The events leading to the shooting are still under investigation.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident began with a dispute at the sports bar.
It is alleged that the victim got into an argument with a woman. However, the staff intervened. Following this, a dispute then started between the deceased and the suspect.
“When it became chaotic, the deceased pulled out a firearm and fired four or five shots randomly. The suspect also pulled out a gun and shot him [the victim] twice,” said Mashile.
The victim fell to the floor and lost consciousness.
Knox was arrested and detained at Edenvale Police Station. The NPA confirmed he was charged with murder.
He will be in court again on July 31.
