Thokoza police nab 67-year-old for possession of stolen 9mm pistol and live rounds
The suspect was found during an early morning operation and is now in custody, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat illegal firearms in Ekurhuleni.
A 67-year-old man was arrested in Thokoza on December 9 after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department’s (EMPD) Intervention and Community Liaison Unit acted on intelligence regarding a dangerous individual reportedly terrorising the local community.
Officers carried out an early morning operation at the suspect’s Thokoza residence at around 01:30.
During a search of the premises, officers discovered a 9mm pistol and five live rounds hidden under a mattress.

The firearm was confirmed to be stolen in a case registered with Tseki SAPS.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Thokoza Police Station and is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
