WATCH: The Dikkies dance group shines from Katlehong to Randhart despite challenges
The Dikkies dance group is kindly seeking sponsorship and donations to make a well-deserved break into the world of dancing.
In the heart of Katlehong township, five young boys shared a passion for dance that would change their lives forever.
Formed in 2019, The Dikkies dance group has risen from humble beginnings to become a sensation on the streets of Randhart, captivating audiences with their energetic and talented performances.
The group’s journey began when Vuyo Sibanyoni, Ayazi Mpambane, Thokozani Mongqwengqwe, Linda Mnwana and Sithembiso Radebe decided to join forces, leveraging their dance skills honed in high school.
Despite facing numerous challenges, their dedication and love for dance propelled them forward.
One of the group’s most remarkable members is Vuyo, who defied the odds to become an expert dancer despite being in crutches due to a soccer injury at age five.
His determination serves as a testament to the group’s unwavering spirit.
The Dikkies’ ‘relocation’ to Randhart was strategic, seeking better opportunities to monetize their talent.
They regularly perform at the traffic lights, entertaining motorists who generously donate to support their craft.
However, their true breakthrough came when Lynn Botha, a kind-hearted Alberton resident, discovered them and offered to enrol them in her dance academy.
“I was driving past where they dance, and I was amazed by their performance. I knew I had to do something,” Lynn exclaimed.

Her guidance has led to significant opportunities, including their triumphant participation in the Alberton Cup competition, where they secured gold medals with impressive scores of 98% and 99%.
“It was our first time winning in a competition. Our parents were so happy,” said Mbambane.
Despite their successes, The Dikkies face significant challenges.
Limited financial resources hinder their dreams of competing internationally, and transportation costs force them to travel 50km to and from Katlehong to Randhart. Sponsorship would be a game-changer for this talented group.
“Dancing is in our blood; we’re not doing it just for the money. It’s our passion, but we need to provide for our families,” the group emphasised.
They also shared frustrations about the entertainment industry, citing experiences where they felt robbed of well-deserved wins despite flawless performances.
The Dikkies’ story serves as a reminder that talent knows no bounds and with support, these young artists can achieve greatness.
