2 Brackendowns SAPS members get promotion to new ranks

Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole recently conferred ranks to 45 newly promoted SAPS members, including 24 lieutenant colonels, 19 captains, and two warrant officers.

In a ceremony highlighting the commitment to leadership and service within the SAPS, Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole conferred ranks to 45 newly promoted members on November 13.

Two SAPS members from Alberton were part of the 45 members. They are Brackendowns support commander NM Raphoko and Brackendowns detectives commander KM Meyer.

The event held in the Ekurhuleni district saw 24 officers promoted to lieutenant colonel, 19 to captain, and two to warrant officer.

The promotions, part of SAPS’ ongoing efforts to build a stronger, more capable force, reflect the officers’ dedication and commitment to maintaining law and order in their communities.

The newly promoted members will take up positions across various roles, including crime prevention, detective services, human resources, and support command positions.

In her address, Sithole congratulated the recipients and shared a powerful message of leadership. She urged the officers not to let their new ranks go to their heads but to use their positions to make a difference in their communities.

“You are not just wearing a rank. You are now in a position of leadership, and you must lead from the front. Inspire your teams, remain passionate about your work, and always lead with humility and accountability. Show respect to your subordinates, be available to them, and encourage self-motivation,” Sithole said.
