Local hero comes to the rescue of Stepping Stone Hospice

Freddie Botha steps in to fix hospice bakkie, keeping vital services and donations moving.

Stepping Stone Hospice has expressed heartfelt gratitude to resident Freddie Botha for his extraordinary act of kindness and ongoing support.

A critical situation unfolded when the hospice’s bakkie, essential for collecting donations and making deliveries, broke down.

Without it, the charity shop’s operations ground to a halt, severely impacting the income stream that helps fund hospice services.

Without hesitation, Freddie stepped in to assist.

Understanding the urgency, he swiftly arranged for the help of skilled mechanic Dylan, who generously dedicated his after-hours time to diagnosing and repairing the vehicle.

Thanks to Freddie, he and Dylan sourced the necessary parts, and the bakkie was soon back in action, allowing the hospice to resume its vital work.

This is not the first time Freddie has stepped in to support Stepping Stone Hospice. Known for his quiet generosity and unwavering commitment, he has consistently offered both financial and material support, always ready to lend a hand where needed.

“Freddie’s compassion and community spirit are truly inspiring. His actions make a difference not only to the hospice but to the patients and families who depend on its care,” said Tersia Burger, CEO and founder of Stepping Stone Hospice.

She also extended special thanks to Dylan, whose skilled workmanship and selfless contribution helped restore a vital service link.
