Update: City confirms sewage fixed in Theresa and surrounding streets
The City of Ekurhuleni has cleared the sewage in Theresa, Moler, Abel Moller and Holzgen streets, but grass cutting has not yet been done.
The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed that sewage spillages affecting Theresa, Moler, Abel Moller and Holzgen Streets in Brackenhurst have been resolved.
This follows concerns raised by residents who reported recurring sewer blockages and overgrown grass in the area.
Residents previously told Alberton Record that sewage frequently ran down the streets, sometimes entering private properties, while long grass posed safety risks.
City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini confirmed that the sewage issue has now been attended to.
“The sewage has been fixed, and the streets are now clean,” said Dlamini.
However, grass cutting in the affected streets has not yet been done.

Dlamini said the city will provide further feedback regarding when maintenance will take place.
When asked whether permanent solutions are being implemented to address recurring sewer problems, Dlamini said operations teams will continue responding to blockages as they are reported.
“Operations will continue to respond and attend to the sewer as and when blockages are reported. Furthermore, we appeal to members of the public to abstain from discarding foreign objects into the sewer line,” he said.
Residents had previously expressed frustration, claiming sewer problems occur almost every two weeks and that grass cutting in their streets is inconsistent.
The city has not indicated whether a long-term infrastructure upgrade is planned for the area.
