WATCH: Meyersdal runners hit the road to raise cancer awareness

In the early hours of the morning, a group of men, donning only purple speedos and tekkies, hit the road for a good cause.

Imagine driving in the early hours of the morning and seeing a bunch of men walking or running and only wearing speedos. Strange, right? Not really if it is to raise awareness for testicular and prostate cancer.

They may have been a bit later than the thousands who took part in the initial race, but they still did their bit to raise awareness about testicular and prostate cancer.

A 2022 National Cancer Registry found that one in 2 000 South African men was at a lifetime risk for testicular cancer.

Men in Meyersdal and surrounding areas took to the streets to raise awareness about the life-threatening disease.

They wore purple speedos as a symbol of prevention against cancer. Options included a 6km or 10km run and then refreshments at Plato, in Meyersdal.
