Smart Golf hosts second annual Parent-child Golf Classic

Great outing for the family and young players.

Ya Rona Golf Academy NPC, trading as Smart Golf, hosted their second annual Parent-child Golf Classic at Huddle Park Golf Course on April 12.

Smart Golf CEO Jerry Dikgale said the field has almost doubled from last year.

“The event has attracted children and parents from the greater Ekurhuleni and beyond. We pride ourselves on promoting the sport among young people and women.

“Apart from the economic contribution the sport is making, we believe we are making golf accessible and a way to bring families together.

Position 1: Siyabonga Ntsele and Thapi Mthembu, with Smart Golf CEO Jerry Dikgale.

“Thanks to all the parents, sponsors and the junior players. Some of our regular stars included Sky, Lehakwe, Andani, Kea and Khensani. Our golf development promises to produce a quality golfing community.

Already, we are proud to see Tshiamo Makamedi (9) who will represent South Africa in the Botswana Junior Championships at the end of April,” he said.

Second position: Isaac Sibambo with Smart Golf CEO Jerry Dikgale.

All junior players received medals. Again, the girls from Orange Farm dominated in the top three.

The top three positions went to:

1. Siyabonga and Mathapelo (gross score 37)

2. Busisiwe and Isaac (gross score 44)

3. Kutlwano and Ntombi (gross score 46 )

Nine-year-old Tshiamo Makamedi will participate in Botswana at the Junior Championships on April 26 and 27. He is with Smart Golf CEO Jerry Dikgale.

Eight-year-old Serafim and nine-year-old Tshiamo finished with a tie on 49.

“We look forward to the Spring Individual Challenge 2025,” noted Dikgale.
