Amaskills FC not so skillful in front of goals

A nasty exchange of words from two opposing players got them the opportunity of an early shower when both were red-carded.

Amaskills FC has no one but itself to blame when it failed to utilise all if not some of the many clear-cut scoring opportunities created during its game against LRC FC.

The Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Promotional League game played at the Altrek Sports Facility on February 11, ended in a 0–0 stalemate as both sides failed to find the back of the net.

Amaskills had the upper hand in terms of shots on target but all went to waste as they were either calmly collected by the LRC keeper Xolani Mlambo or parried over the crossbar and some sideways.

All three of their forwards, the left and right-wingers and the centre forward all seemed to have forgotten their striking boots at home as they each waged numerous avalanches of strikes that never troubled the LRC man between the sticks.

Amaskills’ Buhle Maunga crossed a beautiful ball that just needed a simple tap-in by his teammate Bhekisipho Nyoni who missed a glorious opportunity to put his side ahead in just 15 minutes of play.

LRC’s Tebogo Lebogang also had a chance to register his name on the scoreboard for his side but ballooned his effort over the crossbar a few minutes after the Amaskills’ earlier attempt.

Amaskills got a free kick on the edge of the box in the dying minutes of the first half which was headed into the back of the net by Sibusiso Mncube but ruled offside by the referee’s assistant just as he was about to mount a celebratory act.

After the half-time pep talk, Amaskills came back even stronger and launched wave after wave of attack but all in vain as the LRC number one stood firm between his posts.

A player from both sides saw red after they had a nasty exchange of words that could have easily translated into a fist fight and the referee never hesitated in handing both of them the opportunity for an early shower.
