A familiar tune, a familiar claim,
Promises of progress, a politician’s game.
Jobs, education, safety, and health on the line,
But where’s the substance, the truth behind the sign?

A strong economy, they all proclaim,
But after the votes, the story’s still the same.
Many words, many tales, but little to show,
Just empty promises, as the years go slow.

Write your own book, of deceit and despair,
Don’t wait to be scammed, with no one to care.
A familiar language, a well-rehearsed play,
Politicians’ promises, fade away.

Thabo Mopasi’s words, a warning to share,
A social history researcher, with a truth to spare.
Don’t be fooled by the spin, the rhetoric and lies,
Demand action, demand truth, before you say goodbye.
