Bedfordview resident proud of local fire station
Bedfordview resident, Mr Clem Davidson said the appearance of the Ted Kirkby Fire Station in the area makes him proud.
“I have lived in Bedfordview for nearly 40 years and it makes me proud to be a resident and a taxpayer. Just by the appearance, you can see the station is servicable. It is fully equipped with brand new fire engines, along with ambulances and staff. It is clean. I wish to congratulate the mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM), Clr Mondli Gungubele, for the upgrade in his jurisdiction. I just want to tell them, both council and the fire department, that we notice what they are doing and we are grateful,” said Mr Davidson.
Disaster and Emergency Management Services’ (DEMS) spokesperson, Mr William Ntladi, said Mr Davidson’s sentiments will boost the morale of the whole department and the municipality.
“We appreciate that residents see what we are trying to do, to improve service delivery in our communities. This comment will motivate our officials to do their work more diligently, knowing their work is being valued by residents,” said Mr Ntladi.
He added that the Ted Kirkby Fire Station in Bedfordview received three ambulances, a rescuer pumper, a major industrial pumper, a grass unit vehicle and ten reserve members recently.
“With the added work force and the new vehicles fitted with modern technology, our response time will be drastically minimised. Rescuer pumper will also come in handy here because there is huge traffic going through Bedfordview. With motor accident mostly on highways, it better it is stationed here,” he said.
