Police seize car engines

“The truck was coming from Mpumalanga. The police officers searched the truck and found the car engines."

The Cleveland SAPS arrested four people and seized 20 car engines in Denver on January 9.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said police officers received information about a truck carrying stolen goods in Main Reef Road.

They rushed to the address given to them and found a truck with a driver and three passengers. “The truck was coming from Mpumalanga. The police officers searched the truck and found the car engines. The driver was asked where he was taking the engines and he failed to answer. There was no invoice for the engines,” said Const Mashakane.

The men were arrested and detained at the Cleveland SAPS.

They appeared in the Johannesburg High Court on January 13. They were released with a warning.

The case is still being investigated.
