UPDATE: #Corrie’s journey followed by the NEWS

Lasix is used for patients who suffer from Edema, a condition that Mr Le Grange suffers from.

Edenvale resident, Mr Corrie Le Grange, was first transported to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital on July 1 following his family’s pleas for assistance.

On July 2, it was announced that Mr Le Grange was too weak for the planned medical treatment.

“His heart is too weak to be on anesthesia which is needed for the medical procedures. The risks are too high,” said Mrs Linda McKenzie Edenvale CPF.

His fiancé, Ms Shammy Rademeyer, told Ms McKenzie that the hospital will attempt to decrease the fluid with Lasix by means of a drip.

On July 3, Mr Le Grange was admitted to ICU where doctors hoped to begin treatment. He was also placed on a special diet.

When his condition stabilised on July 6, Mr Le Grange was moved back to his private ward.

But, 36 hours later his family rushed to hospital when his condition took a turn for the worst.

The family waited for an ICU bed to be available.

“At around 9pm Mr Le Grange was moved to the ICU and intubated once again to save his life,” said Mr Mark Porter, the spokesperson for the family.

He contracted septicemia while in intensive care and died at 2.15 this morning.
