The end of the year has arrived and it is a time to spend with friends, family and, hopefully, some community service.
“When it comes to community service, a little goes a long way and it is richly rewarding in return. The spirit of human grace is within all of us, and the most precious gift is that of time, care and love,” said Ward 118 councillor Neuren Pietersen.
“If given unconditionally, this will be appreciated and forwarded immeasurably.”
In our own ward we have the following organisations that would welcome assistance and time:
Avalon
- St Giles
- Strathyre Girls Home
- Dewetshof Retirement Village.
Pietersen wishes those who will be travelling, a safe journey. “If you are going on holiday make sure your pets are provided for and that your neighbours keep a look out over your property.
“Leading up to the end-of-year break, a word of caution … This can be referred to as the silly season with the predictable increase in crime, leading into the holiday season. Look out for each other in your communities and provide the support needed. Strong communities are safe communities.
“That being said, let us be grateful for where we are and what we have done and know that next year will get better. I have enjoyed the challenging opportunity to serve our community and I look forward to increasing the reach of my service through improved efficiency and experience,” he concluded.
