Some of the tips were:
• Not to carry large amounts of money.
• To be wary at ATM machines.
• To be vigilant and alert while in public places.
• To check for card skimming devices.
Andy Mashaile from Interpol also spoke to community members at the meeting.

“We need to join forces and use smart thinking to fight crime,” said Mashaile.
“When criminals commit any crime they do it carefully and try their best to learn their victims’ routines.”
He explained that criminals across the world use the same or similar modus operandi to commit crimes.

“Before an attack or crime is carried out, it is meticulously planned.”
Mashaile said criminals mark a target, gather intelligence, conduct surveillance, plan the crime, gather resources, rehearse the crime, then execute and get away.
