WATCH: #TaxiProtest: R21/R24 traffic not hindered

Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS was at the R21/R24 this morning where traffic flow was not hindered.

Germiston City News (GCN) reported that rumours circulating on social media claiming that the Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry (ETI) will be blockading the R21/R24 highway and hijacking trucks to block the road today are untrue.

The GCN spoke to Tebogo Modise, the marketing officer for KTVR Bus Service (PTY) Ltd which is owned by the Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry, who said the protest march is planned from the Kempton Park offices of the taxi industry and the arrangement is that all taxi associations from the north, east and far east of Ekurhuleni will first converge in Kempton Park then proceed to Germiston were they will meet up with taxi associations from the South. The march will then move from the Germiston Taxi Rank at 10am and marchers will make their way to the Germiston Civic Centre and the mayor‘s office.
