She reported this to the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) on May 3 and said her concerns over this billboard date back to July last year.
“I noted the central median where this board is intended to be erected, is too narrow,” said Humphreys.
Humphreys referred to Section 14 of the Outdoor Advertising By-law in her inquiry to CoE.

The by-law stated that if positioned in the road reserve, the horizontal clearance of the footing or the upright of advertising structure must be a minimum of five metres from the shoulder breakpoint of the road.
It also stated in the event of a kerbed road, 4.5m will be permitted.
Humphreys said the central median where the billboard is being positioned is 3.5m wide.

She has requested to CoE that Outdoor Advertising refrain from sending in more applications until all illegal billboards have been removed.
Humphreys again requested correspondence from CoE in August of this year.
“Right now this structure is being erected and my residents are furious. I have no answer for them,” said Humphreys.
Humphreys said CoE needs to adhere to what is legal and remove what is not.

A request for comment was sent to CoE on August 23 at 9.30am.
